To Dance or Not to Dance?My favorite subject is probably dancing before the Lord in His presence as an act of worship - 2 Samuel 6:14 says "David danced with all His might before the Lord." Psalms 22:3 "Gods power dwells (abides, tabernacles, comes down) in our praise/worship of Him." Psalms 149:3; 150:4 tells us to praise God with varied instruments (stringed instruments, drums, harps, flutes, trumpets, etc...) and dance "dance." Worship is expressed through instruments, vocal (shouting and singing psalms/hymns) and physical acts of worship such as lifting hands, bowing and laying prostrate. You may look at this in a religious sense but I look at it as a total reckless undignified abandonment of self to please God. The bible says God dances over us and sings over us and when one sinner repents all heaven throws the wildest party. God and heaven are not boring and true born-again, spirit filled Christians aren't. There is also dance and worship in the bible referred to in worship of false God of sex, self, etcetera... Now we have to choose which we will do, when and how. You can be filled with the spirit of God and allow His GLORY and POWER to fill you and flow through you, Psalms 22:3. Carnal dancing leads to sin - Judges 21:21, "When the young women of Shiloh come out to dance during the festival, you come out of the vineyards. Each of you take a wife by force from among them and take her back to the territory of Benjamin with you." Worship of false Gods is demonic - Exodus 32:19, "When Moses came close enough to the camp to see the bull-calf and to see the people dancing, he became furious. There at the foot of the mountain, he threw down the tablets he was carrying and broke them." Worship of God can be the results of military victories, healings, joy and revival - Exodus 15:20, "The prophet Miriam, Aaron's sister, took her tambourine, and all the women followed her, playing tambourines and dancing." 1 Samuel 10:10, "When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a group of prophets met him. Suddenly the spirit of God took control of him, and he joined in their ecstatic dancing and shouting." 1 Samuel 19:20-21, "So he sent some men to arrest him. They saw the group of prophets dancing and shouting, with Samuel as their leader. Then the spirit of God took control of Saul's men, and they also began to dance and shout. When Saul heard of this, he sent more messengers, and they also began to dance and shout. He sent messengers the third time, and the same thing happened to them." 2 Samuel 6:16, "As the Box was being brought into the city, Michal, Saul's daughter, looked out of the window and saw King David dancing and jumping around in the sacred dance, and she was disgusted with him." 2 Samuel 6:21 David answered, "I was dancing to honor the Lord, who chose me instead of your father and his family to make me the leader of his people Israel. And I will go on dancing to honor the Lord." Job 21:12, the righteous "dance to the music of harps and flutes." Psalms 30:11, "You have changed my sadness into a joyful dance; you have taken away my sorrow and surrounded me with joy." Psalms 87:7, "They dance and sing, 'In Zion is the source of all our blessings.'" Isaiah 35:6, "The lame will leap and dance, and those who cannot speak will shout for joy. Streams of water will flow through the desert." Dancing in clubs for sensual desires and gratification, for fun or for worship of false gods through demonic inspired music whether in ignorance or with knowledge is a sin. The only kind of worship that God condones is worship of Him and for what He does. As Christians we must shun all forms and appearances of evil. Do you want to experience the true joys of Christian Fellowship? Your eternity can be sure with Jesus. God loves you and Died for you. There may many religions seeking God but only one leads to God and that is Jesus, He is the Only "Way, Truth and Life and NONE can come to the father but By Him," John 14:6. Jesus is not just another God or a prophet He is the One and Only begotten Son of God, John 1:18; Matthew 16:13-20. You may think that other religions have some truth and they do but there is only one way to heaven and that is Jesus. There is given only one name by which people may be saved and that is the name of Jesus, Acts 4:7-12. If you want this free gift of salvation to know that you are going to heaven and not to hell all you have to do is believe that Jesus died for your sins, repent of your sins, confess Him as lord, give Him your life and live for Him. The bible says you can not know the day or the hour that Jesus will return. Tomorrow is not guaranteed that if you died tonight were would you go. If you disagree with the heaven and hell concept what do I have to loose if I accept Jesus and live my life as a Christian nothing but if I am right and you are wrong, hell is a hot place and the anguish will be beyond description; Chains, eternal fire, worms crawling in and out of your body, etc... Hell is not a good place. On the other place in heaven you have a mansion, streets of gold, gates of pearl, no religion, everyone truly loves everyone, plus untold and unfathomable pleasures as compared to non existence or being reincarnated as a cow or some form of energy that is boring and impersonal. Anyway the choice is yours not mine. God loves you and made a way for you to go to heaven, you can not do it on your own only God can save you and if you repent of your sins, choose to live for Jesus and ask Him to come into your heart he will. Open your heart and ask Him in, Revelations 3:20. Jesus loves you and will give you peace, joy and help in all lives struggles. |
